4/7/2023 0 Comments Way to the woods tumblrWe’ve made it to our final trail town of Monson, Maine just as the brisk fall weather begins to roll in and the foliage starts to change. There’s been pain, there’s been a whole lot of rain- but we’re in Maine! Thanks to everyone for your support throughout our NOBO AT thru hike and congrats to everyone who has or is finishing up their hike! We are excited to take with us everything we’ve learned from the trail and from the AMAZING people that we’ve met and apply it to the next chapter of our lives. Each day poses a new challenge whether it be the blisters on your feet, the wet tent you have to pack up, the new holes in your socks, the challenging terrain or the lack of food in your pack, however, we quickly learned that for every rainy day there was a beautiful sunny day just around the corner. Hiking the Appalachian Trail is an experience that is not for everyone, however, for those interested in such an adventure, I am certain you will not leave with any regrets. We have had some incredible experiences that some might see as only existing through magic, though we can say exists through the karma of good people. Through the kindness of strangers we have learned to trust in the good in people and that through positivity and love anything is possible. Every day on the trail we learned something new about ourselves and one another. We have come off the trail changed for the better with memories, experiences, friends, stories, skills and outlooks that are sure to shape each of us as we move forward in life. To say the least, the Appalachian Trail by far exceeded our expectations and in the words of Wicked’s Alphaba and Galinda, “we have been changed for good.” With butterflies in our stomachs and new gear on our backs we took off into the woods not sure what to expect out of the next 5.5 months of our lives. It seems just like yesterday that we were anxiously tying up our hiking boots down at Amicalola Falls, Georgia about to begin this uncertain path up the east coast. It’s hard to believe as we sit in the backseat of Dad’s Volvo on our way back to Lancaster that our Appalachian Trail adventure has officially come to an end. Getting lucky from Georgia To Maine! #funkytown
